The course introduces you to the new Cisco Systems® Carrier Routing System (CRS-1). The platform options, features, and functionality are detailed. The modules are both theoretical and practical in scope. Although some of the modules focus on the technology and features of the platform, most of the modules deal specifically with the tasks associated with configuring and deploying the CRS-1. Hands-on lab exercises allow you to practice and use the knowledge and skills gained during this course to perform measurable tasks.

Pre-requisitos

Because this is a hands-on course requiring students to efficiently configure and verify network functionality, students are expected to possess the following pre-requisite skill and knowledge factors:

  • Basic knowledge of router installation and some experience with installation tools.
  • Routing protocol configuration experience with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), IS-IS and OSPF, - including CCNA and Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI) course completion and Building Core Networks with OSPF, BGP and MPLS Boot Camp
  • Knowledge of BGP multihomed, multiautonomous system configurations -Building Core Networks with OSPF, BGP and MPLS Bootcamp and Configuring BGP on Cisco Routers
  • Strong knowledge of MPLS configuration or - Building Core Networks with OSPF, BGP and MPLS Boot Camp or CMPLS course
  • Multicast configuration experience - Cisco Mutlicast Configuration course
  • Knowledge of Cisco Router security implementation, including authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA) and TACACS - Cisco Security Autentication class
  • Experience troubleshooting Cisco router in a large network environment - Cisco Internetworking Troubleshooting course

Students are encourages to access the associated Cisco Multimedia Visual Documentation, which contains extensive video descriptions of the hardware and software for this platform. The documentation is located at:
